The UAW Legal Services Plan is the largest pre-paid legal services program in the country.
Plan staff attorneys are represented by AFSCME and support staff are represented by OPEIU.

The Plan has been in existence since 1978 and opens approximately 245,000 cases for Plan members each year. Approximately 15,600 are opened at the National office and the remainder are opened in one of our Plan staff offices.   

Four UAW Membership Coordinators are assigned to the Plan. The Membership Coordinators act as liaison between the members and the Plan and are involved in client service complaints, eligibility questions, benefit questions, offices and other matters.   The GM liaisons are Ed Parker and Al Yelle.   The Ford liaison is Jeff Hartzel and DaimlerChrysler's is Marlene Holiefield.   They can be contacted by calling the National office in Detroit.

During the last quarter of 1999, the Plan had 823,620 eligible members as follows:
